101 Ways to Win Every Time

“Let us never negotiate out of fear, but never fear to negotiate.” –John F. Kennedy. I’ve just finished The Only Negotiating Guide You’ll Ever Need, and it was such an enlightening read. Jammed full with tips on
body language, different types of personality, and lots of examples, it was a concise and clear read. This book offers tips on how to ask for a promotion, negotiating deadlines, deciding what foods to eat, and many other day-to-day occurrences. Following the steps provided in this book, anyone can become a master negotiator; with a little practice. One great thing in this book is that it teaches you to identify what you counterpart is not saying. Often, clues and signs of your counterpart’s discomfort fall through the cracks because you’re not paying enough attention. By tuning yourself in to you counterpart’s tone, body language, and word choice, you can read between the lines, allowing you to be more successful. This book also points out that someone who views negotiations as win-lose (ie: one winner and one loser) will not be very popular, and people will try to avoid working with them in the future. All in all, this was a very educative read, and I will definitely use these tips in the future! I would recommend this book to anyone who is hoping to become better at making deals and negotiating. Synopsis: Everything in life is negotiated, under all conditions, at all times. From asking your boss for a raise, to asking your significant other to take out the garbage, most of us are involved in negotiations to one degree or another for a good part of any given day. The Only Negotiating Guide You’ll Ever Need, Revised and Updated outlines the critical elements you need for a successful negotiation and reveals the 101 tactics to use in any high stakes business deal, or in everyday life occurrences.
